Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1981 Factory 4 Speed Trans AM which is a low factory production TA being only 1 of 3225 4 Speed T-Top TA’s made in 1981. This TA is in excellent overall condition and has been nicely restored. This Trans Am features a beautiful repaint in factory White with new decals, a restored interior, and a nice running 350 Chevy Engine. This Trans Am has no visible rust on body or underneath and is very solid with great lines and gaps. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of White (code 11) over Dark Blue interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above. This TA was sold new in California and remained there until 2006 when the owner I bought it from moved it to Indiana. Factory build sheet comes with car and shows its from CA.
Exterior
The White exterior is in beautiful restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a professional repaint in White with all new decals and trim. The paint is in fantastic condition and shines very well with no signs of visible rust and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking, faded paint, or spider webbing. The decals are in great shape. The bumper grills and side moldings were replaced. New window sweeps and all weather stripping was changed with new pieces. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have nice tread left and are sized 255/40/18 in front and 275/40/18 in the rear. The US Mags 18″ aftermarket Wheels are like brand new and looks just right on this TA. Trunk is very solid and clean with a space saver spare tire and a correct felt trunk mat.
Interior
The Dark Blue interior of this Trans Am has been nicely restored and is in terrific shape. The seat covers are in excellent condition with no noticeable wear, rips, stains or seam splits and were replaced. The carpet was replaced and looks great in the car with no major stains, no holes, or rips. The dash is in good overall condition with a brand new full dash cap. The dash bezel is in great condition as well. The aftermarket Pioneer CD player stereo comes with the car but was removed. The wiring harness is still hooked up for the stereo. The door panels were replaced with new door panels which are in great shape and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray have both been replaced and are in great overall condition. The gauges work as they should outside of the clock and speedo. The horn, wipers and blower motor also work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The console was replaced with a new unit which does not require the computer.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition and has been upgraded with a rebuilt 350 Chevy engine. The factory Chevy 305 engine just did not have much power or go so this engine was built and installed around 2007. Previous owner who installed this engine owns a automotive repair shop in Paris Illinois who’s main account is doing all the automotive work for the local police department and other government departments. This is a 4 bolt main 350 engine with a mild comp cam and Edelbrock performer intake and Carb. The engine runs great and was just tuned up and a new HEI distributor and new wires and plugs were installed. The factory computer was bypassed and now the car performs much better and is able to be tuned. The suspension has been upgraded with performance parts including the front and rear springs and shocks and both sway bars were upgraded. Front end links were also installed. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, does not run hot, rides tight, and is always a joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs very well. This Trans Am is a good driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The E brake is working properly. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. True dual exhaust was added on this TA and long tube headers were added as well. 1981 four speed TA’s had factory strait pipes in the rear as seen correct on this car. Also, the engine is very clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory AC car and all components are on the car but the AC belt was not installed in 2007 when this 350 engine was installed. The AC compressor spins freely.
