Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1979 Factory Trans AM which is in restored condition with several upgrades throughout. This TA came from the factory with a 403 Oldsmobile engine and automatic transmission but now features a rebuilt Pontiac 455 engine and a rebuilt TH350 transmission. The original color was silver on the bird but now it wears a bright red hue which is stunning. This TA features a nice paint job in Red, a super nice Red interior, and a rebuilt Pontiac 455 engine and a rebuilt TH350 transmission. This Trans Am has no visible rust anywhere and is very solid with great lines and gaps. This Trans Am is finished in the desirable color combinations of Red over Red vinyl interior. This is a beautiful color scheme and really stands out from the others.

Exterior

The Red exterior is in restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a repaint in Red with all new decals around 5 years ago. The hood, fenders, doors, trunk lid, all spoilers and wheel flares were removed during the repaint as this TA received a color change from Silver to Red. Overall the paint is in good condition with no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath the car and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking or faded paint. The paint is nice driver quality but not show room perfect trailer queen paint work, there are some imperfections mainly on the hood. New front bumper grills were added and a new nose emblem. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have good tread left and are sized 255/45 ZR17 in the front and 255/50 ZR17 in the rear. The American Racing Torque Thrust wheels are in great condition and show no curb rash or pitting. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with an original correct felt trunk mat. The car was heavily undercoated when new as noticed on the underside of the car. Most undercoating is still in place and has kept this car extremely solid and rust free and continues to protect this car.

Interior

The Red vinyl interior of this Trans Am has been mostly restored and is in great overall condition. The horse collar seat covers were replaced and are like new with no noticeable wear anywhere. They were professionally installed and fit very tight over the seat foam. These are the most comfortable seats ever put in a Trans AM. The carpet is newer as well with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in ok overall condition but does have a crack down the center but comes with a dash cap and matching dash carpet. The dash bezel is in good condition and the gauges were changed to Marshall aftermarket gauges with a digital counter. 1648 miles have been added since the engine build and restoration. The stereo was upgraded to a modern style Kenwood CD player and works well and sounds good. The door panels are in good condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray have also been replaced and both are in great condition. All exterior lights and blinkers work as they should. The horn, stereo, all gauges, and wipers work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The AC compressor has been upgraded but currently the blower motor is only working in the low constant speed, the speed selector is not coming on. I believe a ground has come loose or a blown fuse or the like as the system has recently been overhauled.

Mechanical

This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition and the drive line has been upgraded and rebuilt less than 1700 miles ago. The Pontiac 455 engine was rebuilt less than 1700 miles ago and runs strong and pulls hard, see included build specs. The original 403 engine is gone and a Pontiac 455 engine sits in its place.

Several suspension parts were replaced. We have driven this car several times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, it rides tight, and is always a joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Trans Am is a good driver that feels good on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. Also, the engine is very clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. The starter motor does not always engage, sometimes the key needs turned a few times before starting.
