Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1979 Factory 4 Speed W72/WS6 Trans AM which is in fully restored condition with low actual miles of 44,939. This Trans Am features a beautiful repaint in factory Heritage Brown with new decals, a fully restored interior, and the original numbers matching 400 engine, see vin stamp photo below. This Trans Am has no visible rust and is very solid with great lines. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Heritage Brown (code 69)over Camel Tan (code 62r) vinyl interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured below and included PHS documents. This is one of the most sought after collectible TA’s on the market being the last of the 400 4 speed cars, 1 of only 2417 ever made. Very importantly the original engine is still in the car with low miles.
Exterior
The Heritage Brown exterior is in beautiful restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a professional repaint in factory Heritage Brown with all new decals in the last year. The paint is in great condition and very fresh with no signs of visible rust and both bumpers are in good shape with no flaking or faded paint. The decals look new and are in excellent shape. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The BF Goodrich tires are brand new and have full tread left and are sized 255/60/15 and the 8″ snowflake wheels are OEM restored originals and are in excellent shape with no curb rash and come with new center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping and window sweeps are newer and in excellent condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire and jack, with a correct felt trunk mat.
Interior
The Camel Tan vinyl interior of this Trans Am has been restored to stock. The seat covers have been replaced and are like new with no noticeable wear anywhere. The carpet is new as well with no stains, rips, or holes, but should be steamed to lay flat in spots. The original dash is in great condition with no cracks and the dash bezel is in great condition as well. The stereo was upgraded years ago to a after market 2 prong AM/FM digital cassette Pioneer stereo that powers up but needs speakers. Thankfully the dash has not been cut for a modern stereo. The door panels have been replaced and are in like new condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray have also been replaced and both are in new condition. All interior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the clock. The horn, stereo, wipers and rear defrost also work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition with only 44,939 actual miles on the original 400 engine. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it has not run hot, rides tight, and always a joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Trans Am is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The 4 wheel disk brakes do not pull and stop as they should. True dual exhaust was just installed on this TA and it has an amazing exhaust note at idle and cruising speeds and no noticeable drone. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory AC car and all the AC parts are in tact but the compressor was making noise and the previous owner cut the AC belt. It appears the compressor needs rebuilt or replaced to work properly.
