Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this survivor 1979 Trans Am which is in fantastic original condition with low actual miles of 51,231. This Trans Am has only had one real owner, Mr. Erwin, from new until his passing in 2016. View all the original paperwork and documented owner history below. It was gifted to his grand daughter in 2016 and that title is seen below, it never left Johnston City IL, until recently. This Trans Am features all original paint with original decals, a beautiful camel deluxe cloth original interior, a plethora of original documentation, and the original numbers matching 403 engine, see vin stamp photo. This Trans Am is absolutely solid and has no visible rust anywhere around the car or under the car, and is very solid with great lines and gaps. Its believed that this TA has never had any body work done and is all original sheet metal. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Heritage Brown (code 69) over Camel (code 62B) deluxe cloth interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag and build sheet pictured below. I removed the rear seat during detailing and found the original build sheet tucked behind the rear seat springs almost 40 years ago. Another great sign of originality and authenticates this TA for what it was then and what it still is today. The low mileage is not only validated by the amazing original condition of this TA but also by the Ohio title pictured below stating the mileage as “Actual.” There are also several receipts pictured below with mileage documentation.
Exterior
The Heritage Brown exterior is in good overall original condition. This Trans Am has never had any paintwork done and still hosts its original sheet metal and original factory graphics. The paint is in great condition for its age and there are no signs of visible rust and both bumpers are in good shape with no flaking paint. There are some door dings and blemishes around the car as you would expect with original paint. The decals are in great shape for being nearly 40 years old and still look great on the car. There are some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. Tires are brand new and have less than 50 miles on them and are correctly sized 225/70/15. The body colored Rally II wheels are OEM originals and are in great shape with no curb rash and have never been restored or painted. All weather stripping is original and in great shape but the window sweeps are original and somewhat deteriorated. The trunk is factory perfect and very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire, inflator bottle, jack, with the original trunk mat. The original speaker insulation is still in place which is another great sign of originality. The underside of this TA has not been touched up at all or spray bombed with cheap spray paint. Its as true and honest as the rest of the car and very solid and very rust free.
Interior
The Camel deluxe cloth interior of this Trans Am is original and in excellent condition. The seat covers are factory originals and in excellent shape for their age and have no major wear or stains. The carpet is original with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in excellent condition with no cracks or fading and the dash bezel is in excellent condition as well. The original AM/FM Stereo works great in this TA and thankfully the dash has not been cut for a modern stereo. The original door panels are in great condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in excellent condition and not sagging at all and the original package tray is in like new condition. All interior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the clock and dome light. The horn, stereo, wipers, and blower motor on all speeds all work. The original GM Camel floor mats are still in this TA and in good shape.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in excellent mechanical condition with only 51,231 actual miles on the original 403 engine. We have driven this TA numerous times on the streets and highways and it always performs very well, does not run hot, rides very tight, and is a true joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs very well. This Trans Am is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. The engine bay is very unmolested and is very factory correct and a lot of the lines, hoses, and wires are factory original. This is a factory AC car and all factory components are still on the car but the system appears to need a charge to blow cold. This TA has been loved and meticulously cared for by its previous owner and several receipts come with the car. The outstanding originality of this TA and the way it drives is a true testament to prior owners care and love for this special TA.
