This 1985 Jeep CJ-7 is finished in brown over tan and powered by a 258ci AMC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The Jeep is said to have remained under the ownership of a single family until 2019, and it reportedly underwent a cosmetic refurbishment in 2020 that included a repaint, application of decals, an interior refresh, replacement of the soft top and side curtains, and installation of Pro Comp 15″ alloy wheels with 31″ tires . Additional work performed in January 2021 consisted of multiple fluid changes and replacing the battery. This CJ-7 was acquired by the selling dealer in March 2021 and is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean Ohio title.
The CJ-7 featured a wheelbase that was 10″ inches longer than the CJ-5, and the body on this example was repainted its current shade of brown metallic and accented with Renegade decals during prior ownership in 2020. A replacement soft top and side curtains sourced from Bestop are pictured above and shown further in the gallery below.
Pro Comp 15″ wheels fitted with 31″ Tornel A/T-09 tires were installed during the refurbishment. A factory spare is mounted to the rear swing-away carrier and is fitted with an older Uniroyal tire.
The cabin features replacement seats clad in tan upholstery sourced from Bestop along with a matching center console and roll bar padding. A factory three-spoke steering wheel fronts a body-colored steel dashboard fitted with a Jeep-branded pad.
Centralized instrumentation is composed of an 85-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for temperature, fuel level, voltage, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows just under 176k miles.
The 258ci AMC inline-six produced 115 horsepower with 210 lb-ft of torque from the factory, and is believed to have been rebuilt under prior ownership, though supporting records are not available. Work performed in January 2021 included replacement of the battery along with fluid and filter changes.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional photos showing the suspension, chassis, and driveline are presented in the gallery below.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in North Carolina from May 1985 through its most recent update in January 2015.
