1978 Z28, 35K Miles, 2 Owners, Unrestored, SOLD!

Cincy Classic Cars is very proud to offer this Survivor 1978 Factory Z28 which still retains its original numbers matching 350 engine and automatic transmission with low “Actual” miles of 35,295. This fully documented Z28 was the king of the mountain for 1978 Chevy performance and is nearly completely original with just some wear items replaced. The included original build sheet, window sticker, bill of sale, Protecto Plate, and numerous other dealer documents fully authenticate this special Z28 as being legit and the real deal. This Z28 was one family owned from new till 2017 and has always stayed within 10 miles from where the car was purchased new at George Lamb Chevrolet in Wooster Ohio. This Z28 has had only 3 owners from new. This Z28 was removed from long term storage, about 20 years from 1998-2017, and was refreshed and made road worthy with several wear items being replaced in 2017/2018. This Z28 features all original paint and original decals, door edge guards, and body moldings, an original fantastic Red vinyl interior, the original factory drive line, and the factory build sheet. This Z28 has no visible rust anywhere and is very solid with great lines and gaps. The underside was fully rust proofed when new and is very solid and rust free. There are no rust concerns anywhere on the frame, floors, rockers, or trunk. This Z28 is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Light Red (code 75) over Red vinyl interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above and included Build Sheet. Service records have been kept on this car from new to current and most service was completed where the car was purchased. The low miles are Actual and several receipts have mileage accounts on them and each title was in Ohio and stated as Actual mileage on the title under mileage brand.

Exterior

The Light Red exterior is in fantastic original condition. This Z28 features all original sheet metal with no patches or repairs and all original paint in factory Light Red with all original decals and moldings. The paint is in excellent original condition for being 41 years old with no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking paint. The paint has a great shine and good gloss and is smooth to the touch. The paint is incredible for being original with no crazing or cracked paint. This Z28 was heavily coated with rust proofing by Zack Pappas which did a great job in protecting this car from harsh elements and environments, and is still very noticeable on the underside of this car. This Z28 was also treated to Tidy Car paint protection over the years and one of the reasons the paint is still in excellent condition today.
There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The BF Goodrich tires are newer with full tread left and under 2000 miles driven on them and they are sized 225/70/15 and the factory wheels are OEM originals and are in good original condition and not restored. All weather stripping and window sweeps are original and in great condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original spare tire and jack.

Interior

The Red vinyl interior of this Z28 is original and in great overall condition. The original seat covers are in great condition with no excessive wear or rips. These are not replacements but factory original vinyl covers. The carpet is original with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in great condition with no cracks or fading and the dash bezel is original and in good condition. The am/fm 8 track stereo works and sounds good. The original door panels are in great condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner was just replaced with correct perforated headliner material and package tray is original and in good shape. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should including the cigarette lighter. The horn, stereo, wipers, and blower motor on all speeds works. The warning buzzers and lights all work and so does the blinker indicator lights. Everything works on this car outside of the clock. Reverse lock out linkage is still in place from the factory and the car must be in reverse to remove the keys. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.

Mechanical

This Z28 is in excellent mechanical condition with low miles of 35,295. Most importantly the original 350 engine and original transmission are still in the car with matching numbers. I have driven this car numerous times and it drives incredibly well and gets a lot of attention while cruising around town. It does everything the way its intended to per factory design and has no noticeable rattles or squeaks or odd noises. I have full confidence in the car and its a true pleasure to drive and it handles extremely well being a factory F41 car. This Z28 was given a full mechanical refurbishment in 2017/2018 after car sat for nearly 20 years. The brakes were fully serviced including all new parts, 4 new shocks, new rear leaf springs, carb. overhaul, new tires, new battery, new fuel pump and fuel lines, and new headlights. The original catalytic converter is still in place with the original GM factory exhaust. The emergency brake works as it should and holds the car well. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, it rides tight, and is always a joy to drive. The smiles, thumbs up, and attention you get driving this car really adds to the enjoyment factor. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Z28 is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should and were recently serviced. Also, the engine is very factory correct with several factory tags, hoses, lines, clips, spark plug wire guides, and markings. There is a lot of originality under the hood and throughout the car. I choose not to over detail the engine bay area to keep it original. This is a factory NON AC car which really cleans up the engine bay and enhances performance.
