Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1976 Factory 455 four speed Trans AM which is in restored condition and comes with its numbers matching original drive line. This Trans Am was owned by one person from new until the summer of 2020. This Trans Am features a stunning show quality repaint in Firethorn Red with new decals, a beautiful stock interior, the original numbers matching 455 engine and four speed manual transmission, PHS Documents, original bill of sale and numerous original dealer documents/brochures, and service records back to new. This Trans Am has no visible rust and is very solid with great lines and gaps. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Firethorn Red over White and Black deluxe interior. This is one of the most sought after collectible TA’s on the market being the last year for the 455 4 speed cars. Very importantly the original engine and original four speed transmission is still in the car. The original owner kept meticulous care of this car from new until the summer of 2020, over 44 years he owned the car. He kept service records from new until 2017 and spent over $10,500 in 2017 to refurbish the cars mechanicals. In addition to those costs he had the car stripped to bare metal and repainted in Firethorn red from the original color of white. The car was taken apart and no money was spared during the restoration and a show quality paint job was applied in 2017. Also, the engine was removed for a complete engine bay detail and the engine was resealed with new gaskets while removed. This TA was also rust proofed when new and the receipts are included.

Exterior

The Firethorn Red exterior is in beautiful restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a professional repaint about 3 years ago and is in show quality condition. The paint is in excellent condition and is very fresh with no signs of visible rust and both bumpers are in great shape. The paint is deep with an excellent gloss and shine and is very smooth to the touch. The decals still look new and are in excellent shape. The front bumper nose emblem was replaced and new sail panel emblems were installed. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires are brand new and have full tread left and are sized 245/60/15 and the OEM Rally II wheels are like new and fully restored and are in excellent shape with no curb rash and come with new center caps and original trim rings. All weather stripping and window sweeps are newer and in excellent condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire and jack, with a correct trunk mat and the inflator bottle which is almost always missing.

Interior

The White/Black deluxe interior of this Trans Am is in wonderful stock condition. The seat covers appear to be original covers and are in excellent condition with no major wear anywhere. The carpet is like new and was replaced and has no stains, rips, or major holes. The original dash is in excellent condition with no fading or warping and no cracks and the dash bezel is in great condition as well. The stereo was upgraded years ago to a after market 2 prong AM/FM cassette but is currently not working. The factory ordered power antenna is not working either. Thankfully the dash has not been cut for a modern stereo. The door panels appear to be original and are in great condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray are in like new condition as well and were replaced. All interior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the clock. The horn, wipers, rear defrost and blower motor all work. The sun visors are not tight to the headliner. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.

Mechanical

This Trans Am is in excellent mechanical condition and comes with the original Pontiac 455 engine and the original four speed manual transmission. The engine was removed in 2017 for a refresh and new gaskets and resealed. Over $10,500 was spent in 2017 updated the cars mechanicals including a new clutch, complete rebuild of the brakes, new shocks, new mini starter, new water pump, rebuild of steering pump, new fuel pump, new emergency brake, new wheel bearings, new alternator, new Q jet carb., new radiator, new hoses and belts, new windshield, and much more. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, rides tight, and always a joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Trans Am is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The brakes were serviced and do not pull and stop as they should. Newer Flowmaster exhaust was added and it has an amazing exhaust note at idle and cruising speeds and new ceramic coated headers were also added. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. Again, the engine was removed in 2017 in order to properly detail the engine bay area. Several parts were removed and repainted under the hood including the radiator core support, fender braces, inner wheel wells, brackets, A arms, and numerous other items while the engine was removed. The alternator is noisy. This is a factory NON AC car which really cleans up the engine bay and adds to performance.
